"The Brightest Light"
I was looking for a love song for my wife that she wouldn’t hate.
I had just written some twenty of them in the last thirty years. Desperate to make her happy, I remembered how much she loved the movie “Benny and June” and the Proclaimer’s hit, “500 Miles" I thought, “I should write a song like that.”
So I did.
Sans the Scottish accent. But with the swagger, the attitude. Oh, I was so aggressive here. Pushy, you know? Scottish pushy.
(I am mocking myself.)
It came out quite a nice song, very touching and sweet in a Scouse way. Add the horns and you have yourself a bitchin’ little rock and roll song. And the added benefit?
I got to tell my wife I loved her in front of everyone.
