I put my money where my mouth is

A pianist plays guitar!

Okay, I’m not exactly a beginner on guitar. But I’m not exactly good either!

I first learned how to play when I was in 10th grade. I played it on and off for decades, but I never ever felt like I really had the hang of it. (Then again…did I ever feel that way about the piano? ANYway…)

A few years ago I did a concert in my backyard and played my songs on guitar for the first time. But that was my backyard. Then I did a set at the Inman Park Arts festival and played some guitar. But that was outside during the pandemic and two people were there.

This time, I’m upping the ante.

I'll be playing the Thinking Man’s Tavern Songwriter Open Mic. I learned three songs specifically on guitar and upped my playing game, really practicing them. This will be the first songwriter jam, with a real captive audience who knows guitar, that I’ve ever dared play in front of on this instrument.
